Ultra Kaiju Humanization Project: The Beginning Stories (Japanese: ウルトラ怪獣擬人化計画 始まりの物語, Urutora Kaijū Gijinka Keikaku Hajimari no Monogatari) is a novel series written mainly by Ouka Tanisaki. The exception is chapter 1, which was written by Ryou Morise.
It was serialized on Kadokawa's Dengeki G's Magazine from April 2016 to February 2017.
It serves as the prequel to the Kaiju Girls anime series, focuses on different kaiju girls.

The story follows university professor (later general adviser of GIRLS's research department) Makoto Takizawa and freelance camerawoman Hiromi Yodogawa on their encounters with various kaiju girls, the establishment of GIRLS those encounters led to and GIRLS's first encounter with the dangerous creatures, known as Shadows.
